London
Heathrow Airport
You can travel to Heathrow by
rail, tube, or use the wide network of coach services and local buses.
BAA Heathrow is investing in
public transport to encourage passengers to leave cars at home. The "Free
Flow Heathrow" campaign highlights the extensive range of public transport
alternatives available to air passengers. London Heathrow Airport has four
terminals
Terminal 1 is for all domestic
flights, most UK airline departures to Europe plus EL AL and South African
Airways flights.
Terminal 2 is for most non-UK
carriers' flights to Europe and some long haul destinations.
Terminal 3 is the long haul
terminal for US, South American, Asian and Asia Pacific airlines plus most
African carriers.
Terminal 4 is for British
Airways long haul and Concorde flights and BA flights to Amsterdam, Athens,
Paris, Moscow and Tel Aviv. Canadian Airlines, KLM and Qantas also use T4.
There are four types of parking
at London Heathrow - Short Stay, Long Stay, Business and Valet parking.
Short Stay
Each terminal has its own short
stay car park, they are a convenient option but expensive.
See also Business Long Stay
Valet parking and charges.
Terminal 1
There are separate multi level
Short Stay car parks for Departures and Arrivals at Terminal 1. The car parks
are through the main airport access tunnel and on the left as you arrive in the
airport complex.
Departures - Car Park 1A
The ramped access road takes you
up to the Departures level. Access to the car park entrance is round to the left
through the extended drop off area. The car park is linked to the terminal by a
covered footbridge, but is some way from the building itself.
10 minutes free stay for
passenger drop off.
Arrivals - Car Park 1
The Arrivals car park is smaller
than the newer Departures car park, but is considerably closer to the terminal
building. It has no direct link to the terminal but relatively easy access at
the Arrivals level.
If you are parking for more than
4 hours use the Business or Long Stay car parks, charges work out much cheaper.
Terminal 2
Short Stay Car Park 2 entrance
is just past the Terminal 2 building and is on the right hand side, follow the
signs.
Drop passengers and luggage
outside terminal before parking, but do not leave cars unattended as they will
be towed and there is a hefty charge for recovery.
Terminal 3
The separate Arrivals and
Departures buildings at Terminal 3 share Short Stay Car Park 3 which is on the
right hand side immediately before you reach the terminal. Covered walkways link
the car park with both Departures and Arrivals buildings.
Terminal 4
Car Park 4 is directly in front
of the terminal building and is perhaps the most convenient of all the Short
Stay car parks. Signs to the car park are easy to follow.
There are toilets on Level 4
(Departures level) of the car park.
Business Parking
The two Business car parks for
Terminals 1, 2 & 3 are on the Northern Perimeter Road. Follow the signs for
Business Parking as you approach the airport.
Both operators, Pink Elephant
and APCOA provide free regular transfer buses to the terminals. They also offer
a request service to Terminal 4.
Transfer time to Terminals 1, 2
& 3 is approximately 10 minutes but can take longer.
Terminal 4 has its own Business
car park - Park and Fly on the Southern Perimeter Road. Follow the Business
Parking signs as you approach Terminal 4.
Long Stay
The Long Stay / holiday car park
is on the Eastern Perimeter road and serves all four terminals.
There is a free bus service to
all terminals which operates between 05:30 and 23:30. Transport by telephone
request outside these hours.
Allow 30 minutes transfer time
to terminals at peak periods.
NCP also operates a long term
car park - the NCP Excelsior. Located just off the Heathrow spur road, follow
signs to the Excelsior Hotel.
A free transfer bus to Terminals
1,2 and 3 runs every 10 minutes with a journey time of around 10 minutes.
Details on 0800 128 128.
Valet Parking
Valet parking is available at
all four Terminals.
Drive to the Terminal forecourt
where a driver will collect your car and park it for you.
Your car will be waiting for you
on your arrival.

Shopping Collection Service

service which enables you to buy more and carry less, making shopping at the
airport even easier. If you are travelling from Stansted to a destination within
the European Union you can shop in as many stores* after security control as you
like and collect your purchases from the designated area in the International
Arrivals Hall upon your return to the UK, saving you the hassle of carrying them
around with you while you're away. This service is free of charge. Tax-Free
Shopping
Stansted Airport offers you a
unique shopping environment, where you can expect:
- World famous and familiar
high street brands
- A huge selection from holiday
essentials to luxury gifts
- World-class customer service
Duty-free stores still offer a wide
range of products to all passengers at considerable savings over the UK high
street. All are located after security control. All passengers save up to 40% on
fragrance and save up to 20% on wines, champagnes and a range of spirits and
fine cigars. Plus passengers flying outside the European Union can save up to
50% on a wide range of spirits and tobacco*.
Tax-free stores offer their full
range to all passengers at tax-free prices. All items for sale which are subject
to tax on the high street are available at tax-free prices after security
control. So the same product in the same shop on the high street would cost you
17.5% more than at the airport.**
Before security control there is
still a wide range of famous name stores available to everyone visiting the
airport, whether you are flying or not. You are still assured great value for
money, as prices are exactly the same as in the equivalent high street shops

A Gourmet's delight as
Restaurant Refurbishments get underway
You can't fail to notice the
refurbishment work being undertaken in the airport's restaurants. Rest Air
(appointed in December 1999 to operate and manage the airport's restaurants) is
investing a massive £1 million at the airport to create four brand new dining
concepts
The existing 'Brasserie'
restaurant, which has superb views overlooking the Runway, Dock and terminal
concourse, will be completely refurbished to create a restaurant for fine dining
called 'The Meridian Line'. With 110 seats and serving breakfast, lunch and
dinner, 'The Meridian Line' will be able to cater for customers wishing to dine
at leisure, alongside those with less time.
Adjacent to 'The Meridian Line'
will be the 78 seater Yeager's Bar, Café and Lounge, which will provide simpler
refreshments all day long, but in a more informal atmosphere.
In the departure lounge and in
place of the existing 'Waterfront' restaurant, will be a brand new Italian
Trattoria. Seating 32 people counter-style, it will serve a selection of fresh
pasta and seafood, as well as offering a morning breakfast menu. This is in
addition to a fully serviced bar
Finally, there will be the
Marchais Frais Carte, which will be positioned centrally in the departure
lounge. The Carte will serve salads, baguettes, pastries and so on. These will
be available for immediate consumption or to take away. A full waitress service
offering hot drinks and snacks will also be available throughout the lounge.
The work to re-develop and
re-furbish the existing facilities commenced in early January and with careful
phasing and planning to ensure that disturbance to passengers is kept to an
absolute minimum, will be fully completed around mid-April.
We hope that you will bear with
us during this work and that you will agree that London City and Rest Air
customers will have a greater choice of gourmet delights than ever before
The Meridian Business Centre,
located within the terminal building at London City Airport, is the ideal place
to hold meetings of any kind. With 20 suites of varying sizes available they can
be used for meetings, training, conferences and private functions for 1-80
persons.
The rooms are equipped with
state-of-the-art audio-visual aids, and have full banqueting services and
secretarial assistance available. Day delegate and room only rates are
available. Car
